Frequently Asked Questions About Microsoft Dynamics 365
Answers to the questions we hear most from prospective clients evaluating a Microsoft Dynamics 365 partner, covering implementation, migration, localization, and support.
What is MCP?
What is Model Context Protocol (MCP)?
Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard, created by Anthropic and adopted by Microsoft, that lets AI assistants connect securely to the tools and data inside business applications. Microsoft has adopted MCP across Business Central, Dynamics 365 CRM, and Finance & Operations, so an AI assistant can read and act on your data through a governed connection instead of manual exports or custom integrations.
How does MCP work with Business Central, Dynamics 365 CRM, and Finance & Operations?
MCP works through a dedicated server for each product that exposes its tools and data to an AI assistant under your existing sign-in and permissions. Business Central offers an official MCP server for read and write access to standard business data; Dynamics 365 CRM (Dataverse) offers a generally available MCP toolset that respects your roles and row-level security; and Finance & Operations offers a Dynamics 365 ERP MCP server, generally available since version 10.0.47, with data, form, and action tools.
Is MCP secure and does it respect my permissions?
Yes: MCP connections use Microsoft Entra ID sign-in and enforce the same permissions the signed-in user already has in Business Central, Dynamics 365 CRM, or Finance & Operations. Microsoft's official MCP servers are read-only by default, write actions require explicit permissions such as API page permissions in Business Central, and no assistant can see or change more than the connected user is authorized to.
Which AI assistants work with MCP for Dynamics 365?
Microsoft Copilot Studio, Visual Studio Code with GitHub Copilot, Claude, and ChatGPT are the AI assistants Microsoft documents as compatible with the Business Central MCP server, and any MCP-compatible client can connect to Dynamics 365 CRM's MCP tools under Dataverse security. Availability and supported clients vary by product and update, so check Microsoft's documentation for your environment before rolling out an assistant.
What is Plur-e, and how is it different from Microsoft's official MCP servers?
Plur-e is our MCP product for Business Central and Dynamics 365 CRM, adding a mobile app for warehouse, sales, and payments on top of standard MCP access. Unlike Microsoft's official MCP servers, Plur-e adds per-user OAuth roles by entity and action, read-only access by default, and a full audit trail of every call, all layered on the same Entra ID sign-in your team already uses.

How long has MS Cloud Experts been in business?
MS Cloud Experts has 20+ years in business software consulting, including 10+ years focused specifically on Microsoft Dynamics implementations.
Which Microsoft Dynamics 365 products do you support?
We support the three Dynamics 365 pillars: Business Central, Dynamics 365 CRM (Sales, Customer Service, Field Service, and Customer Insights - Journeys), and Finance & Operations (Finance, Supply Chain Management, and Project Operations), all connected to AI assistants through MCP.
What industries do you serve?
We serve telecom towers, healthcare, aquaculture, and public-sector parking, along with other mid-market and enterprise organizations that need an integrated ERP and CRM platform.
Implementation
How long does a Dynamics 365 implementation take?
Implementation timelines depend on scope, but most Dynamics 365 projects run from a few months for a single-module rollout to a year or more for a multi-entity, multi-country deployment. We scope every project with a defined timeline before work begins.
What does a typical implementation project include?
A typical implementation includes discovery and requirements, solution design, configuration, data migration, testing, training, and go-live support, followed by a post-launch stabilization period.
Do you follow a fixed implementation methodology?
Yes. We use an agile approach that combines PMI project management practices with the Microsoft SureStep methodology, adapting the level of formality to the size and complexity of each project.
Can you support a phased rollout across multiple countries?
Yes. We regularly plan phased, multi-country rollouts that sequence localization, data migration, and training by region so each entity goes live on a validated configuration.
Migration from Legacy Systems
Can you migrate us from Dynamics NAV or GP to Business Central?
Yes. Migrating from Dynamics NAV or GP to Business Central is one of our core services, covering data migration, customization review, and user retraining so your team keeps the processes that work.
What data is migrated during an upgrade?
We migrate master data, open transactions, and historical records based on what your team needs for day-to-day operations and reporting, agreeing on scope and cutoff dates before migration begins.
Will we lose customizations when we migrate?
Not necessarily. We review existing customizations during discovery and determine which should be rebuilt in Business Central, replaced with standard functionality, or retired as no longer needed.
How do you minimize downtime during migration?
We use staged data migrations, parallel testing environments, and a rehearsed cutover plan to keep downtime to a defined, agreed-upon window.
Localization for Latin America
Do you support LATAM tax and compliance localization?
Yes. We configure Dynamics 365 and Business Central for Latin America tax, invoicing, and regulatory requirements as part of implementation and migration projects.
Which countries' localization do you support?
We support localization projects across Latin America and the United States; specific country requirements are confirmed during project scoping.
Can Dynamics 365 handle multi-currency and multi-language operations?
Yes. Dynamics 365 natively supports multi-currency, multi-language, and multi-entity operations, which we configure to match how your organization operates across countries.
Support and Timelines
What support options are available after go-live?
We offer post-go-live support ranging from stabilization assistance to ongoing managed support, sized to your team's internal Dynamics 365 capability.
How quickly do you respond to support requests?
Response times are defined in each support agreement based on issue priority; critical issues are prioritized ahead of standard requests.
How much does a Dynamics 365 implementation cost?
Cost depends on scope, modules, and the number of entities involved. Request a custom quote and we will provide pricing based on your specific requirements.
Do you offer training for our team?
Yes. Every implementation includes end-user and administrator training, and we offer additional training engagements after go-live.
